/ Exclusive preview of the “Privacy Thermometer” study by La Tercera and Descifra on Alessandri

July 27, 2026

The event brought together representatives from the business world to learn about the key findings of the “Privacy Thermometer,” a study conducted by La Tercera and Descifra that reveals how Chileans perceive the protection of their personal data, whom they trust to safeguard it, and what they expect from companies in light of the new Personal Data Protection Law.

The presentation was led by Miguel Zlosilo, Analytics Consultant at Descifra, while Carla Illanes and Rodrigo Velasco, partners at Alessandri, supplemented the findings with insights and practical experiences regarding the challenges organizations will face under the new regulation, and provided a legal and strategic perspective on the impact of data protection on corporate trust and reputation.

Among the main conclusions, the study revealed growing concern about the use of personal data, a low sense of control over the information people share, and high expectations for transparency from companies.

The event marked the first launch in a series of three studies that La Tercera and Descifra will present this year, kicking off a broader research agenda that will explore different aspects of the relationship between individuals, businesses, and personal data. As part of this initiative, Alessandri participates as a strategic partner of the “Data Protection Law” Hub, contributing its legal expertise and perspective on the challenges posed by the new regulatory framework for organizations.

The results of “Privacy Barometer” will be published in La Tercera on August 8, at a time when privacy has evolved beyond a purely legal issue to become a key driver of trust and reputation.
