Renowned specialist Carla Illanes is the latest addition to Alessandri Abogados. She joins as a partner in the firm’s Technology, Cybersecurity, and Data Protection group, at a time marked by the imminent entry into force of Chile’s new personal data protection law.

Santiago, Chile, October 10, 2025. Almost a year before the new regulation comes into force and the National Personal Data Agency makes its debut in Chile, Alessandri Abogados has brought in lawyer Carla Illanes as a partner in the firm’s Technology and Personal Data group. With a Master’s Degree in Law in Regulated Sectors from the Carlos III University of Madrid and a Diploma in Personal Data Protection from the University of Chile, Carla has more than 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors, with a practice focused on data protection, cybersecurity, information technology, technology contracts, and artificial intelligence. Recently recognized by Chambers & Partners in the field of Personal Data Protection, Alessandri’s new partner was Head of the Legal Area of the Digital Government Division of the Ministry of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, where she led key legislative proposals such as Law No. 21,464 amending the Law on Digital Transformation of the State. She has advised local and multinational companies on the design and implementation of privacy policies, regulatory audits, regulatory compliance, and international data transfer, in addition to actively participating in congressional working groups on AI and cybersecurity.

Carla joins a team of more than sixty professionals at the firm, which already has eight lawyers specializing in technology, along with Elisa Matta, a promising and talented lawyer with whom she has been working for several years.

Elisa Matta is a lawyer and holds a diploma in Personal Data Protection from the Catholic University. She specializes in emerging technologies such as biometrics and artificial intelligence, advising companies on the implementation of regulatory compliance strategies, risk management, and the adoption of best practices for information protection and security incident prevention.
