“We are very grateful to be able to materialize this alliance, which will undoubtedly be a great contribution to such a necessary issue as protecting the work of people in the world of books and pursuing those who profit from piracy, in its various forms”, explained María Angélica Zegers, president of Corporación del Libro y la Lectura and director of Ediciones UC.
Sebastián Rodríguez-Peña, vice-president of the Corporation and general director of Penguin Random House, added that “our intention is that day by day we can make progress in safeguarding fundamental matters in the respect for copyright. The support of Alessandri Abogados gives us hope that we can make progress in this task”.
For Rodrigo Velasco A., managing partner of Alessandri’s Technology and Intellectual Property area, “this agreement reaffirms Alessandri’s historical commitment to the education and defense of intellectual property rights in the field of cultural industries, as well as its permanent collaboration in the implementation of public policies for the sustainable development of the publishing industry and the promotion of reading in any type of format or platform”. The advice will also include the participation of associate attorneys Jaime Urzúa and Hernán Torres, experts in copyright law.
