/ President Gabriel Boric appoints new director of INAPI

President Gabriel Boric appointed Esteban Figueroa Nágel as the new director of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), where he had been acting director since July 2024.

The new head of the agency is a pharmaceutical chemist from the University of Concepción and holds a diploma in Pharmaceutical Business Management from the University of Chile.

In 1999, Figueroa joined the National Institute of Industrial Property as a patent examiner and later became head of the Pharmacy Department. Subsequently, in 2011, he became deputy director of Patents, a position he attained through a senior public management competition. In this role, he participated in the processing and implementation of Law 21,355, which modernizes the industrial property system in Chile and brings it into line with international standards.
