/ Macarena Gatica is elected Co-Chair of the Amcham’s Digital Regulations Board

8 March, 2021

On March 5, our partner Macarena Gatica was named Co-Chair of the Digital Regulations Board of the Chilean North American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham).

AmCham Chile is a binational chamber of commerce founded in Valparaíso on December 23, 1918. It represents the sectors and companies that trade and / or invest in the United States and Chile, whether local, American or binational. It has 500 partners, which employ more than 400,000 people.

This 2021 was the first open election of the Digital Regulations Board and stood out for its high level of participation of group members (66% of members voted). Macarena Gatica, Alessandi’s partner and Paulina Silva, Bitlaw’s partner, were elected Executive Secretaries. In a challenging year due to the present pandemic, these attorneys are expected to lead the discussion on digital regulations in Chile, generating positions that are representative of their perspectives.

“The Digital Regulations Board has a key role to play in the times of digital transformation. Regulations are currently being defined that will determine important matters, such as artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity and computer crimes”, said Macarena. Alessandri’s partner adds that the participation of Amcham members must be promoted, because “it is important that the legislator and the regulatory bodies know the reality of private companies and the consequences of a new regulation.”
