/ Fintech and cybersecurity: key points of the new regulation
December 4, 2025Alessandri hosted members of FinteChile’s CISOs Circle at a breakfast meeting to discuss the main regulatory challenges facing the financial and technology sector in Chile. Carla Illanes, a partner at Alessandri, presented key aspects of the new laws that will impact this industry.
During the breakfast, Carla Illanes presented the key points of the new laws that will impact FinteChile’s member companies: the Cybersecurity Framework Law, the Fintech Law, and the Personal Data Protection Law. She explained how these regulations will change risk management and data protection in the fintech sector. The presentation included an analysis of the concepts of Essential Service Providers (PSE) and Operators of Vital Importance (OIV), as well as the obligations and challenges that organizations will have to assume under the new legal frameworks.
The financial and operational risks arising from the regulations, the importance of implementing prevention models and information security management systems (ISMS), and the role of the Financial Market Commission (CMF) in regulatory convergence were also discussed.
The talk was a key opportunity to share experiences, address concerns, and prepare fintech companies for compliance with the new regulatory requirements that will come into force in 2026.
