/ Regulatory Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Chile

The distinguished Inma Martínez, a global pioneer in artificial intelligence, discussed the regulatory challenges Chile faces regarding the development and deployment of AI at Alessandri.

The discussion provided an in-depth look at the main regulatory, economic, and institutional challenges associated with the advancement of artificial intelligence, in a context of growing adoption of these tools across various sectors of the economy. The event featured Inma Martínez, a global pioneer in AI and advisor to the G7 and OECD’s Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), and was moderated by Carla Illanes, a partner at Alessandri and leader of the Technology and Personal Data Protection practice.

During the meeting, the international regulatory frameworks currently guiding the development and use of artificial intelligence were reviewed, with a focus on European initiatives. The risks and opportunities these regulatory models present for the industry were also addressed, as well as the legislative challenges facing Chile.

Inma Martínez’s visit was part of the project “Exploring Industrial Horizons for Chile 2026–2050,” promoted by SOFOFA in partnership with Imperial Business School, an initiative that seeks to project the country’s industrial development with a long-term perspective.
