/ IAM 2014 Patents Ranking released: Alessandri on silver tier
June 3, 2014Declared the ‘year of innovation’ by former president Sebastián Piñera, 2013 was a watershed for technological entrepreneurship across the country. Of particular note was the increased budget committed to various scientific and technological initiatives – up 8.9% on the previous year’s spend. Against this backdrop, home-grown patent activity has increased markedly – a positive development for Chile’s top patent practitioners. However, international filings still account for the vast majority of instructions.
Corporate heavyweights are well served by Alessandri & Compañía. It handles national phase filings within the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), while simultaneously maintaining a high-rolling IP litigation practice. Pharmaceutical and biochemical concerns are something of a speciality, but the group also makes the grade when it comes to high-technology matters. Leading copyright and entertainment expert Rodrigo Velasco Alessandri stands out for his patent licensing and litigation nous. He is counted as one of the market’s brightest rising stars.
