/ Windin Capital acquires three wind farms in Chile

April 6, 2022

The Israeli investment fund acquired three wind farms in the Araucanía and Biobío regions. The three projects have a total installed capacity of 103.8 MW. In addition, Windin will open a new office in Spain to manage future initiatives.

Windin Capital is an active capital fund specialized in the renewable energy market, with more than a decade of experience in the sector. The company delivers a variety of investment opportunities in diversified renewable technologies, such as wind and solar. It recently acquired three wind farms in the Biobío and Araucanía regions of Chile. Alessandri’s team of lawyers in Chile and Pérez-Llorca in Madrid advised on the transaction.

The oldest project is the La Flor wind farm, which has been operational since October 2019 and consists of nine 3.6MW Vestas turbines. The other two farms, Vergara (37.8MW) and Cancura (33.6MW), are currently under development and will start construction by the end of 2022.

Windin Capital decided to open an office in Barcelona. The new headquarters will have a dedicated team to further develop the six renewable energy projects they have in Spain, which add up to a total capacity of more than 300MW. The new office will also manage future investments in Southern Europe and Latin America.

Felipe Cousiño, the Alessandri partner in charge of the transaction, commented that he is very pleased with the outcome. “This operation demonstrates how Chile is a very attractive place for the development of renewable energy projects,” said the M&A lawyer.
