In an effort to strengthen the technical capacities of San Antonio Customs inspectors, Alessandri Abogados participated in a training on the detection of counterfeit products, in violation of the Industrial Property Law 19.039 and other applicable regulations. This training, held in person at the Port of San Antonio, and organised by Chilean Customs, was attended by Isidora Weitzel, attorney, and Hernán Torres, associate of the firm.
During the day, our team presented the characteristics of our customers’ products, including the well-known Duracell brand, so that the inspectors can more easily identify possible infringements. These inspections, which are carried out through the so-called ‘aforos’, allow customs officials to conduct an exhaustive physical and documentary review of the goods, verifying their classification, origin and other essential data for taxation and customs control purposes.
The reception by the legal and inspection team of the San Antonio Customs was extremely positive, and a space was created for the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
With this type of initiative, Alessandri not only strengthens its relationship with the customs authorities, but also reaffirms its commitment to defend the rights of its clients, brand owners, and to protect the local market against the entry of illegal products. The training provided is one more step in our firm’s ongoing efforts to safeguard intellectual property and promote compliance with current regulations.
