/ Alessandri Celebrated World Intellectual Property Day

April 24, 2026

As part of World Intellectual Property Day, Alessandri once again hosted the Pre-INTA Reception in Chile. This cocktail reception, organized in partnership with the International Trademark Association (INTA), aimed to strengthen professional relationships and address key intellectual property issues.

The event took place on Thursday, April 23, at Alessandri’s offices, attended by government officials and representatives from intellectual property organizations, the firm’s clients, and attorneys from various firms, during an evening that also featured live music.

Our partner Rodrigo Velasco A. opened the reception with a warm welcome and recognized the work of all those who contribute to the development of intellectual property in the country.

The Undersecretary of Culture and the Arts, Carlos Lobos, noted that the Ministry of Culture is convinced that intellectual property is fundamental to the country’s cultural, economic, and social development. In this context, he highlighted the ministry’s active role in formulating public policies in this area and reaffirmed the commitment to advancing the strengthening of mechanisms that allow intellectual property to thrive. He also called for the joint creation of an ecosystem in which intellectual property serves as an effective driver of culture and innovation.

Sebastián Gómez, Chief Representative Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean at the International Trademark Association (INTA), discussed the association’s global work, its role in protecting and promoting trademarks and intellectual property, and the importance of creating spaces for networking and collaboration among its members. He also highlighted the INTA Annual Meeting as a key forum for knowledge exchange, committee work, and the strengthening of professional networks.

INAPI’s National Director, Esteban Figueroa, highlighted the work the institution is carrying out alongside INTA on matters related to the modernization of industrial property offices. He emphasized that intellectual property is part of the country’s critical infrastructure and underscored the importance of strengthening and enhancing collaborations between the public and private sectors for its development.

The INTA Annual Meeting 2026, to be held May 2–6 in London, England, is once again projected to be the world’s most significant gathering for the trademark community, offering opportunities for networking, continuing legal education, and committee and client meetings.

Presentation of ANEI

During the event, the National Association Against Illicit Economies (ANEI) was presented—an initiative that brings together companies from various productive sectors with the aim of addressing phenomena such as counterfeiting, smuggling, and illegal trade in a coordinated manner. Through a public-private partnership approach, ANEI seeks to contribute to the design of structural solutions that strengthen security, innovation, and economic growth in Chile.

Arturo Alessandri, president of ANEI, addressed the challenges facing the intellectual property ecosystem, particularly counterfeiting, illegal trade, and smuggling. In his remarks, he emphasized the need to move from diagnosis to concrete action and highlighted the role of the private sector as a strategic ally of the State in safeguarding the country’s innovation, creativity, and economic development.
