/ Key points of the new Personal Data Law for media agencies

Alessandri welcomed members of the Media Agencies Association (AAM) to a breakfast meeting to discuss the new challenges posed by the Personal Data Protection Law. Lawyer Diego Córdova presented the main aspects of the regulation that will transform data processing in Chile.

During the breakfast, Diego explained the current legal framework, which includes Law 21.719, and detailed how this regulation redefines concepts such as personal data, sensitive data, and special categories such as geolocation data or data on minors. The legal basis for data processing was also reviewed, including consent, legitimate interest, and compliance with contractual obligations.

The meeting allowed for the identification of specific challenges for the advertising industry, such as consent management, data minimization, and the definition of contracts between controllers and processors.

The breakfast was a key opportunity to resolve doubts and share examples in order to anticipate the changes that this regulation will bring.
