/ The Legal 500 recognizes Rodrigo Velasco S. as a Leading Lawyer in Intellectual Property

The Legal 500 survey released its 3013 ranking for Latin America, and recognized Rodrigo Velasco Santelices, Alessandri Abogados’ partner and director of the intellectual property area partner, as Leading Lawyer. The firm’s IP area was ranked second in the corresponding chart.

Scoring points for its ‘responsiveness, thoroughness and quality work’, Alessandri & Compañía Abogados enjoys ‘a pre-eminent position among IP firms in Chile’. The practice is international in scope and is able to call on the expertise of 16 ‘excellent’ practitioners, including department head Rodrigo Velasco S and patent director Rodrigo Velasco A, who lead on much of the work. The firm is recommended for its patent, trade mark and domain name expertise and enjoys ‘a broad knowledge and close links to the television industry in Chile’. Rodrigo Velasco A advised production company Asesorías y Producciones Fabula on the copyright due diligence process of Cannes-awarded Chilean film ‘No’, for its international distribution. The very active Rodrigo Velasco S successfully represented Chile’s National Professional Soccer Association (ANFP) in an ambush marketing case against retailer ABCDIN before the Council for Self-regulating and Ethical Advertising (CONAR) over a television advert that made unauthorised use of ANFP’s trade mark. He also played a major role in the application for a European Geographical Indication by Spain’s Turrón de Jijona before the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), the first of its kind to be granted in Chile; and Twitter on three opposition proceedings against trade mark applications.
