Todas las marcas concedidas con posterioridad al 17 de septiembre del año 2008, se entienden concedidas por un plazo de 15 años.
Luego de que en 2006 Venezuela iniciara su desvinculación de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones (CAN), el 5 de noviembre de 2008, el Servicio Autónomo de Propiedad Intelectual (SAPI), publicó un aviso en el que informaba sobre la restitución de la aplicación de la Ley de Propiedad Industrial (1956), en reemplazo de la Decisión 486 de la CAN, la cual dispone -entre otras cosas- que el registro de las marcas en dicho país se concederá por un plazo de 15 años y no de 10 años, como se establecía en el marco de la Decisión 486 CAN.

All trademarks granted after September 17, 2008 are understood to be granted for a period of 15 years.
After Venezuela started in 2006 its disengagement from the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), on November 5, 2008, the Autonomous Service of Intellectual Property (SAPI), published a notice in which reported on the restitution of the application of the Industrial Property Law (1956), replacing Decision 486 of the CAN, which states -among other things- that the registration of trademarks in that country will be granted for a term of 15 years and not for 10 years, as established in the framework of Decision 486 CAN.
