Ximena has vast experience in competition law, international trade law and regulated markets and industries. She has worked as an independent competition and international trade consultant and has prepared legal opinions and studies on an array of competition and regulatory matters. She is assistant European editor at Arbjournal, analysing legal and regulatory issues, in particular the antitrust risks involved, that drive cross-border mergers & acquisitions and hostile takeovers.

Prior to joining the Competition Authority, Ximena was the deputy head of the Competition Policy and Trade Defense Department at the General Directorate of International Economic Affairs of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading the competition and trade remedies chapters’ negotiation teams in several trade agreements. She represented Chile in the Rules negotiations at the World Trade Organization and participated in a number of antidumping, safeguards and subsidies investigations.
