Fonasa and the National Center for Health Information Systems (CENS) entered into a collaboration agreement so that, once the state of constitutional exception is over, they can evaluate the platforms that provide telemedicine services financed by the national health fund (Fonasa).
Although remote healthcare services are viable, necessary and provide benefits such as access to various specialties in locations where they are not available, and cost savings due to the absence of travel for the user/patient, not all healthcare providers have adequate platforms to provide healthcare through telemedicine.
This agreement will generate a standard according to which the platforms that provide remote health care can be evaluated.
In relation to this, let us recall that in January 2021 the Ministry of Health convened a public consultation process on the Telemedicine Regulation, and established technical and safety requirements regarding the provision of remote health care through platforms.
